What SEO costs on the Gold Coast, and what “$99 a week + GST” really means

We pulled the published rates from SEO providers serving the Gold Coast and put them side by side in Australian dollars. Then we look at the two things that make Gold Coast quotes hard to compare, weekly pricing and GST, and at a question most readers never ask: who wrote the cost guide you are reading?

Published October 2026 · Based on publicly listed pricing from providers serving the Gold Coast

The short answer

Published Gold Coast SEO prices start from about $97 to $99 a week for entry programs and run past $3,000 a month. Most Gold Coast small businesses doing real local SEO pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month.

Almost every one of those numbers is plus GST, which adds 10 percent, and some are quoted per week. Convert everything to a monthly figure including GST before you compare: $99 a week + GST is about $472 a month.

— Read the unit

“$99 a week + GST” is about $472 a month

Gold Coast SEO prices come in three different units, often on the same page: per week, per month, and per month plus GST. None of that is dishonest. It just makes quotes surprisingly hard to compare side by side.

A program from $99 a week works out at about $429 a month, because a year has 52 weeks rather than 48. Add 10 percent GST and it is roughly $472 a month on the invoice. A $1,500 + GST retainer is $1,650.

The fix takes thirty seconds: write every quote down as a monthly figure, including GST, before you compare anything. A weekly price multiplied by 52 and divided by 12 gives you the monthly number. If you are registered for GST you may be able to claim it back, which changes the effective cost again, so compare totals on whichever basis applies to you.

— Who wrote the guide?

Not every “independent” cost guide is independent

Search for Gold Coast SEO pricing and one of the most visible results is a site describing itself as an independent cost guide, inviting you to get free Gold Coast quotes. Its own page for agencies explains how that works: every Gold Coast SEO enquiry from the guide is routed to a single agency, which pays $500 a month + GST for exclusive territory, with no competing quotes sold on the side.

That is a legitimate business model, and the pricing information on those pages may well be accurate. But it means “get quotes” can mean “get one agency”, and readers deserve to know that before they fill in the form.

The same test applies to us. We sell SEO, so this page has an interest too. That is why every price in our table links to the page where the provider published it, so you can check each one yourself rather than taking our word for it.

No lock-in is the norm here, not a selling point

On many US pages we point out that we work without a contract. On the Gold Coast that is simply standard: most established local providers already advertise no lock-in contracts, including several in the table above. So do not choose anyone, us included, because they offer month to month. Choose on what the money actually buys.

Why the Gold Coast is a competitive search market

~680,000Residents in the City of Gold Coast
$49bnGold Coast economy in 2024
~48,000People employed in health care
$1,692Median weekly household income (2021 Census)

The City of Gold Coast has around 680,000 residents and an economy worth about $49 billion. It is not an unusually wealthy market: the 2021 Census put the median household income at $1,692 a week. What makes it competitive is sheer volume. Health care employs around 48,000 people, construction is one of the largest employers, and tourism and hospitality depend on visitors who search before they book.

Local search here is also unusually spread out. The city stretches from Coomera and Helensvale in the north through Southport, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Robina down to Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta, where it meets Tweed Heads across the New South Wales border. A plumber in Coomera and a clinic in Burleigh are not competing for the same searches, so a strategy that targets “Gold Coast” as one market usually wastes money. Suburb pages and a properly set up Google Business Profile matter more here than in a compact city.

What each price tier actually buys

Convert every quote into monthly hours including GST before you judge it. Australian agencies commonly charge $140 to $250 an hour, so a $500 a month program is buying a few hours of real work, not a campaign.

Entry programs

$99 a week to $600 a month

Google Business Profile upkeep, citations, a handful of on-page fixes and a report. Genuinely useful for a single tradie or small studio in one suburb. Not enough to compete across the whole Coast.

Fits: sole traders and small businesses in one or two suburbs.

Real local SEO

$1,000 to $2,500 a month

A proper technical fix list, profile management, review strategy, content written for Gold Coast buyers, and pages for the suburbs you actually serve, from Coomera to Coolangatta.

Fits: established single-location businesses.

Competitive sectors

$2,500 to $5,000 a month

Ongoing content, digital PR and link building, conversion work and AI answer optimisation. Elective health and aesthetics, legal, construction and property tend to land here.

Fits: high-value services where one client repays several months of fees.

Multi-location and national

$5,000+ a month

Several locations, Queensland-wide or national campaigns, often combined with paid search. At this level you are buying a team.

Fits: multi-site groups and national brands based on the Coast.

— There is a fifth option

Buy the diagnosis before you buy a monthly program

Every tier above asks you to start paying monthly before anyone has shown you what is actually wrong. Free audits exist on the Coast too, but a free audit is usually the first step of a sales conversation.

So start at the other end. A flat-fee diagnosis from about A$415 (US$295) tells you what is broken, what it is worth fixing, and roughly what that should cost with anyone, and the report is yours to keep. Then choose: do it yourself, hand it to your developer, hire one of the local providers above, or put us on a retainer.

Volt Audit next to the alternatives

Straight comparison. Four rows do not favour us, and on the Gold Coast that is the honest picture.

Read those red rows properly. If you want the lowest entry price, Australian-dollar invoices, a face-to-face meeting in Southport or Robina, or a provider with published Gold Coast case studies, local providers will suit you better, and we would rather say so. What we offer is a different shape: a diagnosis you can buy on its own and take anywhere, a free public tool you can run right now, and SEO and the WordPress build from one person.

It is still under development, so it reviews the page you give it plus a sample of its links rather than crawling your whole site. Think of it as a rough snapshot.

Use it if: you want evidence before you spend anything, including on us.

The diagnosis: full SEO audit

About A$415 / A$665 / A$1,190 one-off

That is US$295 for under 30 pages, US$475 for 30 to 60, and US$850 for 60 plus. Before you sign anything, find out where you actually stand

Run the free checker for a quick read on broken links, missing schema, thin pages and AI visibility gaps. No email needed for the critical findings, no sales call. It is a rough snapshot rather than a full crawl, the paid audit is where we go deep.

What actually drives your number

  • How many suburbs you target. The Gold Coast-specific one. Coomera, Southport, Robina and Burleigh are separate local markets.
  • Your sector. Elective health, aesthetics, legal and property compete against well-funded rivals.
  • GST and the pricing unit. Weekly versus monthly, and including versus excluding GST, can move the real figure by a fifth or more.
  • The state of your site. Broken links, thin pages and missing structured data mean fixing before growing.
  • Links and digital PR. The most expensive line item, and the first thing dropped from cheap programs.

Where the money leaks

Comparing weekly prices with monthly ones$99 a week is about $429 a month before GST. Convert every quote to monthly, including GST, before you compare.
Assuming a cost guide is neutralSome cost guides earn their money by passing your enquiry to one paying agency. Check who runs it before relying on its quotes.
Targeting “Gold Coast” as one marketA business in Coomera rarely wins customers in Coolangatta. Suburb pages and a strong Google Business Profile beat one generic page.
Choosing on “no lock-in”Most providers here already offer it. It tells you nothing about the quality of the work.
Ranking guaranteesNobody controls Google’s results. A guaranteed number one is either meaningless or a warning sign.

When you should not hire anyone yet

  • Your site cannot convert. More visitors multiply a leak. Fix the site first.
  • You have not claimed your Google Business Profile. For a local Gold Coast business that free asset often beats the first few months of any program.
  • You need enquiries within a month. SEO compounds over months. Paid search buys visibility immediately.

Does your SEO provider need to be on the Gold Coast?

For the actual work, no. Technical SEO, content and site architecture do not depend on where the person doing them sits. Proximity is genuinely worth something if you want to meet in person, and for Google Business Profile work tied to local reputation, and the Coast has capable local providers for exactly that.

This holds everywhere, which is why our prices are the same in every city, including our guide to Canberra, our New Zealand guide to Christchurch, our UK guide to Reading and our Canadian guide to Oakville. So apply the same test to everyone, us included: ask whether the price is weekly or monthly, whether it includes GST, and ask them to show you something you can verify yourself.
