What SEO costs in The Hague, and the English-speaking market most local sites ignore
We compared published Dutch SEO prices in euro. Then we look at what makes The Hague unlike any other Dutch city: embassies, international courts, more than 200 international organisations and the families who come with them, a large, well-paid community that searches in English, while most local businesses only speak to them in Dutch.
Published October 2026 · Based on published Dutch SEO pricing and data from the Municipality of The Hague
The short answer
Dutch SEO prices run from about €500 a month with a freelancer to €1,500 to €3,500 with a small-business agency, and the average Dutch SME spends €1,000 to €2,500 a month, almost always excluding 21% BTW.
But in The Hague the better question is which language your customers search in. If you serve internationals, an English presence done properly can win searches that most of your Dutch competitors are not even competing for, which can make it cheaper to rank, not dearer.

A whole city of customers searching in English
The Hague is home to most foreign embassies, the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, and more than 200 international organisations, from Europol to NGOs. According to the municipality, international organisations generate around 40,000 jobs, about 11 percent of employment, and the region has the highest concentration of international schools in the Netherlands.
Those people need dentists, GPs, lawyers, accountants, estate agents, removals, tutors and restaurants, and many of them search in English: “English speaking dentist The Hague”, “expat tax advisor Den Haag”, “international family lawyer The Hague”.
Most local businesses answer in Dutch only. That leaves English searches to a handful of businesses that bothered, and makes them some of the most winnable searches in the city.
What doing it properly involves
- Real English pages, not a translation button. Automatic translation widgets do not create pages that rank.
- Correct language tags, so Google shows the English page to English searchers and the Dutch page to Dutch ones.
- An English-friendly Google Business Profile, with services and replies to reviews that internationals can read.
- The words internationals use, such as “English speaking”, “expat” and “international”, which Dutch keyword tools rarely surface.
Two things to check on any quote
- The hours behind the price. Searchlab’s Dutch guide puts packages under €1,000 at around 4 to 8 hours a month, €1,000 to €2,500 at 12 to 24 hours, and €2,500 to €5,000 at 24 to 40 hours.
- BTW. Dutch business services are normally quoted excluding 21% BTW. A €1,500 retainer is €1,815 on the invoice.
The Hague in numbers
The Hague has eight city districts and 44 neighbourhoods, plus the beach resorts of Scheveningen and Kijkduin, and the make-up of each area differs a lot. For local businesses that matters: an English-speaking clinic serving the international neighbourhoods and a Dutch-speaking one in another district are competing for different searches.

Where the money leaks
When you should not hire anyone yet
- Your site cannot convert. More visitors multiply a leak. Fix the site first.
- All your customers are Dutch-speaking locals. Then the English opportunity is small, and a Dutch provider may serve you better.
- You need enquiries within a month. SEO compounds over months. Paid search buys visibility immediately.
Does your SEO provider need to be in The Hague?
For the work itself, no. Technical SEO, content and site structure do not depend on where the person doing them sits. A local provider makes sense if you need Dutch-language content or meetings in person, and The Hague has good ones.
Outside that, our prices are the same in every city, from Eindhoven to Dublin. So apply the same test to everyone, us included: which language, how many hours, and whether BTW is included.
